Houndstooth & Plaid

Hey loves! Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! I love this time of year because everything around me transforms into magical lights and Christmas cheer! Every shopping center is glistening with fully decorated trees, poinsettias, gold garland, the intercoms blasting The Beach Boys' "Little St. Nick" (my favorite Christmas song btw!), and red Starbucks cups in every hand. I'm extra excited to spend a whole day baking Christmas themed sugar cookies, watching Home Alone and The Christmas Story, and wearing thermal pjs to match my quirky reindeer antler headband. Ahhh I just love the tradition!

On this particular day, I walked around downtown Atlanta to see the Christmas decor and go ice-skating! The giant ornaments scattered throughout Olympic Park were adorable and made for the perfect photo opp! When putting this outfit together, I was a little hesitant about pairing too many prints in one outfit; my limit is usually two prints max. But when it all came together, it just worked perfectly! The leopard print heels compliment both the plaid vest and the houndstooth cigarette pant and I didn't sense that any of the patterns were competing with one another at all. The cream sweater definitely helped keep the patterns well balanced and overall added an extra bit of polish to the look. An overall timeless look that really just exudes classic style with a bit of American prep.

The puffer vest is a trendy piece this F/W season and I am a huge fun! Although the vest is lacking sleeves it's still very warm but most importantly versatile for any occasion. I went for this pretty and classic plaid print instead of a solid neutral color because plaid itself is also very on trend as well. I was thinking that the next time I wear this vest I'll combine it with a plaid flannel for some plaid on plaid style. Keep posted for that!

Like I've always said, leopard print is a neutral in my book and it compliments everything! I love these heels and how effortless they look with the houndstooth print pant.

Besides chinos and joggers, cigarette style pants are a classic staple in my wardrobe because of how elegant and flattering they look on anyone. They have a clean line that manages to slim and elongate any body type. I have a black pair that I wear to death and are my go to pants for interviews or just paired casually with a sweatshirt and Vans. I recommend purchasing a pair with a small scale pattern like polka dots or plaid to keep the pant as flattering as possible.
