Baby, it's cold outside! But just because temperatures are dropping doesn't mean you can't show a little skin (more or less). I wore a pink nude version in a previous post a couple of months ago and I loved it so much I went back and purchased the green and black version. You wouldn't think a dress with such a specific look would be so versatile but it's become a staple piece in my wardrobe. I like that I can dress it down by layering a tee underneath and adding some sneakers or dress it up by adding a moto leather jacket and strappy heels. I think the key here is to not overthink the look and try to keep it as effortless as possible. I know a lot of people aren't particularly into the lingerie inspired clothing that's trending, but the reason why I like it so much is because it's such an unexpected piece that not everyone would dare to wear out and it just exudes a cool but understated sexy vibe.
When you wear unexpected pieces out, whether people like it or not, they will find you to be more of a fashion risk taker and I think that's what style is all about. You show people what your style capabilities are when you take risks and execute them seamlessly. And that's what trendsetters do basically. They take tongue-in-cheek pieces and add their personal flair to them which will eventually make it all too resistible and desirable. People admire authenticity and appreciate when someone goes outside of the box and actually does an amazing job with it! (cough cough, Rihanna)
Also I wanted to do a weekly thing, maybe like a Q&A, where I allow you all to get to know me a little better outside of my personal style and incorporate a few facts about myself or what I'm currently into at the moment. I get a lot of the same questions consistently so I think this is a great way to kind of answer them all and also share the information with everyone.
Here's a few to start off with....
- My favorite lip colors are Kylie Jenner lipliner in "Exposed" and Anastasia Beverly Hill's matte liquid lipstick in "Stripdown."
- I use Anastasia Beverly Hill's brow pomade in "Ebony" and use a small angle brush from Real techniques to fill them in.
- I am an English major with a minor in Marketing and I will be continuing to work in the fashion industry post grad.
- Also, I get a lot of questions about how I can afford to buy all of my stuff, travel, eat out, etc. Honestly, I like to indulge and I work hard so I treat myself often. I also know what to save or splurge on, which I will be dedicating a post on soon. Stay tuned for that!
Have a great week loves! Remember to always stay positive, remain humble, be kind, and always dream big! Xoxox
